"Mikinaak Wajiw" $1,665.00

In the Grand Portage tradition of beadwork style this applique beading is of a turtle and homeland. Small glass seed beads are meticulously sewn down in the shape of trees, land turtle and sun on wool cloth. It takes many hours of sewing down the beads to complete the design.

Each beadwork artist has his or her own "Old Indian Tricks” in the beading applique process. Some tricks they have developed, some tricks they have learned in their home communities shared by other beadwork artists. The tradition continues.
