I grew up exploring the lakes, rivers and shorelines of Northern Wisconsin and Minnesota. I loved collecting bones; studying their strength and delicacy, being enveloped by water; watching its ever changing patterns and slow conversation with the shore, and the way nature draws you in for a closer look to reveal all her beauty. Being drawn back to Lake Superior after studying ceramics in North Carolina and learning more about my connection to the Gichigamiwininiwag band of Ojibwe Indians through my Grandmother has deepened my sense of belonging and brought more meaning and reverence to my work. These things continue to inspire me as I work with clay in my studio in Duluth, MN where I live with my husband and son.
